Thinking creatively is the key to putting an industry to work for you. If you love what you do, then you have the only prerequisite needed for creative thinking. So basically there are 3 things you need to be successfully creative.

1.Information - ALOT of information. If your going to innovate in any way, you need to know everything there is on your niche. Google is your best friend, use it to research anything . Traditional education, workshops, clubs, anything to nurture your interest .The more you know, the more you’ll want to create and get started in the Creative Process.

2.Ideas - Now that you know everything there is to know about your passion, you’ll have the urge to create something new. Since you’ve read everything there is to know on your topic, creativity will be the only way to more forward. And if you truly love what your doing, the urge to contribute will be greater than ever

3.Junk filter - This is probably the hardest part to thinking creatively. You need to ask yourself “Is it good?”,”Can i do better?”. You’ll need to filter the bad ideas from the good ones by deciding whether or not they are worth pursuing. Later, when you’ve created whatever it is you were working on, you’ll need to step back and truly evaluate it, as if you were another person looking from outside.

These are the stages that all creative individuals go through. What better way to leave your mark on humanity than to create? Remember, you don’t need to be a special type of person to be creative, you just need the patience to learn, pursue, and filter your ideas.

Some of these can be surprising, but using a combination is the way to go. Especially when cold and flue season come around.

Echinacea

1.Echinacea- A herbal remedy that acts as an immune system stimulator. Mostly known to increase resistance to infection and impurities to the blood such as boils, erysipelas, septicemia, cancer, and syphilis. This can be found at GNC or your local drug store. You can buy it in capsule, liquid, or tea form. Do not take these if you take any immunosuppressants1.

2.Astragalus- Increases production of immune cells and in turn, improves immune function. It is often used in traditional Chinese medicine with ginseng. The root is used in teas, extracts, or capsules2. Check here for side effects and cautions.

3.Laughter- It is known that laughing benefits your immune system by increasing the number and activity of natural killer T-cells, the first line of defense against viruses and damaged cells3. Go ahead, have a good laugh!

4.Ginseng- Plants known to increase the body’s resistance to stress. There are 11 types of Ginseng, but Panax ginseng is best known. There have been claims that ginseng increases libido and even inhibited cancer in animal models4.

5.Mushrooms- Specifically mythical griffin. Also known as Maitake,Sheep’s Head, Ram’s Head and Hen of the Woods. It has been used in traditional Asian medicine to enhance the immune system. You can get these off your own oak trees :).

6.Vitamin C- A highly effective antioxidant found in oranges, blueberries, apples, bananas, and many other fruits. The recommended intake for men is 90mg a day and for women, 75mg a day5.

7.Aloe Vera- Stimulates the immune system by increasing T-cells. Many new studies have been showing up supporting aloe vera’s role in helping the immune system. Some Notes on Aloe Vera here.

8.Vitamin E- Antioxidants such as vitamin E protect your cells against the effects of free radicals, which are potentially damaging by-products of energy metabolism.Commonly found in Vegetable oils, nuts, green leafy vegetables, and fortified cereals. The recommended intake is 15mg for men and women6.

9.Exercise- During moderate exercise immune cells circulate through the body more quickly, and are better able to kill bacteria and viruses. Regular exercise show that these effects become long lasting. However, too much exercise has proven otherwise7.

10.Meditation- People who meditate end up happier and in turn, producing more antibodies than those who don’t meditate. The best way to take control of your life and mind. This is another free one, and if your having trouble getting started, check out How to Meditate : 4 Ways to Help you get Started

A combination of these almost guarantees optimal health and most definitely increases resistance to colds and other viruses. Be sure to research side effects and interactions before taking Astragalus,Ginseng, and Echinacea.

Meditation is a great way to take control of your life. Getting started is the hard part, but once you get it, you’ll feel more in control of your thoughts and actions and the little annoying things will no longer matter. Furthermore, meditating is is a terrific way to boost your health and immunity. 10 Ways to Boost your Immunity

If you’ve ever tried to meditate and just couldn’t get it , you could be doing something better. There are some techniques here to help you, but use these as a supplement to your already established ideas on meditation. Here are the things you’ll need to prepare in order to immerse yourself

1. Quiet environment - You need to be in the most comforting place for you. Some suggestions would be a nearby park, beach, or forest. If you’d like a more closed setting, try your office or even your bedroom. Whatever makes you most comfortable. Slight sounds or interruptions could distract you quickly, so take close consideration before picking a spot to meditate regularly.

2. Comfortable position - Put yourself in a position that doesn’t bother you. Preferably hands and feet flat on the floor. Try not to lay down because you might be tempted to fall asleep if you’ve been having a long day.

3. Focal Point - This can be a picture with a focal point like the one below. Or it can be a saying that is repeated. A popular chant that will keep you concentrated goes as follows. Aum,Nam,Ya,Hoe,Ren,Yey,Key,Hoe. A short one is Ra,Ma. Ra is said when you inhale and Ma, when you exhale. Feel free to create your own chants. Don’t be afraid to sound stupid, you’ll be the only one hearing yourself.

4. Proper Attitude - If you don’t believe you can meditate. You’ll have a lot of trouble doing it. If you’re as optimistic as possible, things will be much easier.

Meditating is for everyone and after doing it many times, you’ll see that its much easier than the first time you did it. Think of it as a skill. The more you do it, the easier it’ll be to get into it .Let meditation help you find the happiness in your life and put you in control of your life, mind, and spirit.

Improving yourself starts out with challenging bad habits. Whatever it might be. You know you could do better without it. While some habits are worse than others, you’ll learn strategies that can break any habit.

1.Extinction - Discover whats reinforcing the habit and stop it. Ask yourself, “What makes me do this?”. Whatever it is, is what you need to suppress.

2.Alternate response -
Try to get the same reinforcement from a different response. For example, if you smoke, try to get the same pleasure from doing something else.

3. Que’s & Antecedent - Narrow down the incentives that cause the habit.

4. Response Chain - Break the chain of responses that cause the habit. If you get the urge to smoke when your alone, avoid being alone. Then you’ll stop the chain of events that cause you to smoke.

5. Negative Practice - Associate the bad habit with something discomforting. If your bad habit is doing cocaine, imagine how your body will feel when your lungs start bleeding. You’ll start to see how your habit is hurting you. You can really have some fun with this one!

You can try just one method or multiple. The more you understand about how your habit works, the more you can focus on breaking it. One thing that might help you is a journal of your progress. This will encourage you to keep on going when you have the urge. Remember that asking your friends and family isn’t a weakness but a way of having encouragement to fall back on.
Good luck!

Okay this quick lesson is based on Vedic Math. Vedic Math is an ancient system of math that was discovered inthe early 1900’s by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji, i’m guessing he is of indian origin since the name “Sri” is given to men and women of the Sikh religion. Just as Mr or Mrs is given as a title in the english world.

Onto the trick. It’s quite simple. This lets you square numbers in and around 100 without a calculator. Awesome :)
Take a look

Ok, time for the super easy guide to y=mx+b. This one should be a breeze. Before we start, a little background just in case you’ve forgot.

1,They’re called linear because they represent straight lines on the Cartesian plane(x,y).

2. m = slope, or the incline of the line.

3. b = where the line hits the y plane.

Ok thats all you need to know. Onto the problem!

Linear Equation 1
Go ahead and draw a small (x,y) plane.

Step 1: The first thing we’ll play with will be b. Start from the origin and go up 4 (0,4). Put a dot. If this was -4 we’d go down 4 instead of up.
Linear Equation Step 1

Step 2: Now we’ll use 2x (mx) to find the slope. With this number, we’ll find out how far we’ll have to go starting from y. Put the 2 over 1 to make this easier. The numerator will determine how far up/down we go. The denominator will determine how far left/right we go.
Linear Equation Step 1

Step 3: Depending on whether the numerator/denominator is positive or negative will determine what direction we go. Take a look at the black box , since 2 and 1 are positive, we’ll go up 2 and right 1. Remember to start from y, not the origin!
Linear Eq step 3

There we go. Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy!
Linear Equations continued coming up tommorow. As always, feel free to comment and check out the archives on the side.

This question has been asked time and again since the first algebra class. Why is algebra easy as cake for some and harder than rocket science for others? Well, the answer lies within. Do you know how you learn? Do you learn visually or would you rather work with something hands-on?

Well, maybe you know what I’m getting to. Whether you’re good or bad at math probably has something to do with what side of the brain you use. If your left brain is dominant, you probably wouldnt be reading this post. If your right brain is dominant…well chances are , you are right brain dominant.

Perhaps some of us are brainless and we just do what this guy says.

“In mathematics, you don’t understand things. You just get used to them.” — Johann von Neumann

Ok, maybe not. Here is a quick test to tell whether your brain works from the left or the right side. This image is originally created by Nobuyuki Kayahara and was recently posted on the Herald Sun.

DancerRL

If you see the dancer going clockwise then you mostly use the right side of your brain and if you see the dancer going counter clockwise then your mostly left sided. Here is a chart to summarize the functions of each side. Maybe you’ll learn something new about yourself.

Left brain Right brain
sequential simultaneous
analytical holistic
verbal imagistic
logical intuitive
linear algorithmic processing holistic algorithmic processing
mathematics: perception of counting/measurement mathematics: perception of motion
present and past present and future
language: grammar/vocabulary, literal language: intonation/accentuation, prosody, pragmatic, contextual

Now you know which side of your brain is dominant! Whats next? Become “whole brained”. Instead of spending your free time doing one or two things, enjoy a variety of things that use both sides of the brain. If your left sided, try putting your imagination to work in some project. If your right sided, perhaps a puzzle of some sort would help now and then. Go ahead and integrate! Put your brain to its best use.

This might be the best way to get yourself to understand algebra. If your someone who tries and tries but just doesn’t get it, give your brain a workout and the answer to your equation will be clear.

If you haven’t read the first tutorial on quadratics and don’t know cross factoring, read it here Factoring Quadratics for idiots. If you still don’t get it, read it again, and remember…

“Mathematics is a game played according to certain simple rules with meaningless marks on paper.” — David Hilbert

So lets start with the meaningless marks!

Example 1

This example is a bit harder than the last.

Step 1

Step 1: Start off rewriting the equation again with an X underneath.

Step 2: Next, we’ll work with the first term. What can be multiplied together to get 4x²? 4x and 1x or 2x and 2x . So write each set on the left of the X

Step 2

Ok, DON’T GIVE UP NOW. This is probably the hardest ( ok, maybe not hard, but long as hell). and remember… this is factoring the easy way, not that stupid way your teacher was trying to teach you as you were doodling.

Step 3: Leave the left side alone and move on to the right side. The ultimate question is What two numbers can i cross multiply to get 12, and when i add them, i get -19 Write out all the possibilities on the side. Starting with the most common factors. 3 and 4, 6 and 2, 12 and 1.

Step 3

Step 4: We have 5 sets of numbers here. 2 on the left and 3 on the right. Follow this procedure. Cross multiply each set on the right with each set on the left then add the two numbers. Do this until you get -19 as the sum. Take a look

Step 4

Step 5: So we cross multiplied 3 and 4 with 4x and 1x and got 19…but we need -19! Now for the easy part. If you need the opposite sign, leave the left side alone and change the terms on the right. 4 and 3 must be negative since -4*4 = -16, -3*1= -3, and -16+(-3)= -19

Step 4

Step 6: Rewrite it from left to right and you get. (4x-3)(x-4) You can check your answer by FOIL.

And there you have it, another tedious factoring problem solved with cross factoring method!
Stay tuned for more easy algebra tutorials!

This tutorial is made to be quick and easy for anyone struggling to factoring. We’ll use a well kept secret called cross factoring to get through it. Quick and painless.

So lets begin. Here is a common example of a quadratic equation. I’ll refer to the three sets of variables as terms.

F1

Step 1: Rewrite the equation and draw a large X under it with room on the side.

F2

Step 2: We’ll work with x^2 first. How many x’s are there? Two obviously. So put one x on the top left and one x on the bottom left. The left side will always be where the first term goes.

F3

Step 3: Now we’ll work with the third term, +6. Think to yourself what two numbers you could multiply to get 6. 3 and 2, or 6 and 1.

F4

Step 4: Here is the hard part. On the side, cross multiply all four terms. x(top left) times 7, and x(bottom left) times 5 .Which set will give you the middle term, 7 (from 7x)?…Thats right, its 6 and 1. 6+1=7. You don’t need to pay attention to the x in the middle term here.

F5

Step 5: Now just rewrite it from left to right as shown below. The answer is (x+6)(x+1)

F6

This is called cross factoring. Its quick and easy. Check out my next lesson Factoring Harder Quadratics for idiots . Feel free to comment and subscribe for weekly updates :)
